Biography
Dr. Peter Gammons

British born Dr. Peter Gammons is President
and Founder of ECHO Worldwide Inc., an international humanitarian
relief charity.
After addressing a large conference in Kampala,
Uganda in the mid 1980’s, an eight-year-old girl called Nursula
ran up and tugged on his jacket.
“Please can you help me? My father died a year ago.
Since then I’ve slept on the streets.”
Choking back tears, Peter knew he had to
do something. He
called the major relief organizations asking them to help, but with
no success. So, he told his friends, “We are going to
have to do something ourselves” and raised the money among
family and friends to purchase land on the banks of Lake Victoria,
to build an orphans village for 250 children who had lost their parents
to AIDS.
In 1988 he launched ECHO Worldwide, which
stands for ‘End Child
Hunger Organization’, to take on other rescue operations. Today,
ECHO has projects in more than 70 nations of the world.
Regarded as a ‘world statesman’ for
his wisdom and compassion, he has become a personal friend and
advisor to Presidents, Prime Ministers and World Leaders.
Dr. Gammons has received numerous awards in recognition of his compassion
and service to others and is the author of more than forty books.
